Your Breast Revision Procedure
Breast revision surgery is typically an outpatient procedure performed with general anesthesia. The actual steps in breast revision surgery, as well as the length of surgery, vary depending on each patient’s individual needs. In general, Dr. Hartline will begin by removing the previously placed breast implants. She may perform a capsulectomy if needed, which is the removal of scar tissue. New breast implants will be placed. The surrounding breast tissue may be lifted or repositioned to achieve the desired aesthetic results.
Recovery After Breast Revision Surgery
After breast revision surgery, patients may return to light day-to-day activities within a few days but strenuous activity must be avoided for at least four weeks. It is normal to experience some swelling, discomfort and minor bruising in the initial days after surgery. For pain management, Dr. Hartline may recommend an injectable opioid-free long-lasting pain medication called Exparel. You may also be advised to wear a compression bra to provide support and minimize swelling. Dr. Hartline will schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your healing and results.
